Good or Bad?

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

  • Good service - but raw coins tend to be overgraded (what else is new right?). Good, no questions asked, return policy - they sound like a mom and pop shop on the phone.

  • I've always felt that they overgrade their raw coins. I have to concur with Frank, in that they seem like a mom and pop shop.

I've bought two raw coins from them. One they graded MS66 and I agreed. PCGS said MS64. image That coin now sits in an MS66 slab (after grading MS65 the next time). The other was circulated and I believe they said VG and it graded F. It was a commemorative and I believe it belongs in the "#2 low grade collection". image
  • Nice guy,i have done business with him and no problems.Hope this helps.imageimageRotts

Nice people to do business with. They may overgrade a little, but not enough to be upset about. I recommend them, just don't be terribly surprised if one of their MS 66 coins gets slabbed as a MS 64. Excellent return policy and communication.image
  • I've been to their store in Norwood, Mass. Very large selection. Two Brothers run the place. Nice material. They don't deal in many slabs. Mostly raw material. Seems to have fair pricing. It's always difficult to buy raw on Ebay, but if you have a good return policy, it should be ok.

They do seem to overgrade, however their pictures usually leave no question about the coins condition. Look at the pictures before you bid, then decide what you think it's worth to you.

Their pictures are so good, I keep a link to their Ebay Items for Sale page.

I've purchased from them once or twice with no problems. As others have stated, they overgrade their coins, but you know that up front because of their pics.

    Vincent's sounds wonderful though.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I stop at their shop whenever I am down in that area for work. I have not purchased coins there, but have done well with paper money and some bullion purchases in the past.

If anyone happens to visit the shop, there is a small italian deli called Vincent's a couple doors down from Kappy's, and they have one heck of a sandwich there!
  • Look at the enlarged image of the obverse of the 1930 Standing Liberty Quarter that they have currently listed and represented as Choice BU. There is significant flatness on Liberty's right leg. The coin is an AU all day. The pictures are great so if you know how to grade, you can rely on your own knowledge and bid accordingly.
