  I think that if you already have the coins in for grading it is. I personally am hesitant to send the coins in for photography only.

  Most of the slabs I get are scratched up, nicked, etc. So on a high-dollar coin, I might send it in for photo only, but I might as well have it's picture taken while it's getting a new holder.

  The price has recently been lowered from $20.00 a coin to just $10.00. For that $10.00 you get a quality high resolution photo sent to you in multiple sizes useable for a variety of different purposes.

  Depends upon the value of the coin and what else you may be sending into PCGS as well as other options for images. The cost for PCGS images is now $10 per coin, if I recall correctly, but I would imagine they also charge a reholder fee. Additionally, you have to pay postage to get the coins to PCGS and then return postage from PCGS to you. Lastly, do they charge the invoice/handling fee for images? I imagine so. This adds up.
