Exceptional service by Heritage

MarkMark Posts: 3,580 ✭✭✭✭✭
I won a lot in Heritage's Friday auction. I got an email over the weekend that the coin had been shipped. Now I live reasonably close to Orlando, so it does not take a lot of time for Fed Ex to ship a package from Orlando to my home. But I am still VERY impressed that I received the coin today, at 12:30...before the invoice has even been posted! I am stunned (again) by Heritage's rapid shipping.

Out of all the major auction companies I've dealt with, Heritage has always been by far the best when it comes to shipping.

Keep up the good work, Heritage!

I have always received excellent service from Heritage, buying, selling, consigning, or whatever.
  • I won a lot in last Sunday's auction (Jan. 6). Paid for it by echeck on Jan. 7th. It still says order processing. Yes, I was pre-approved.

I don't understand why Heritage would ship out a won coin from 1/11/13 when the auction did not even end until 1/14/13. I won a coin on 1/11/13 and another on 1/14/13. My invoice will likely show tomorrow 1/15/13. I intend to pay over the internet on 1/15/13, and expect Heritage to ship in about ten days. I am a preferred Heritage customer, but there must be something special above my status. Spending $20,000 a year with Heritage is not enough for the best service?

How in the world did you manage such fast shipping?

You are merely a preferred Heritage customer; I am a triply preferred Heritage customer because I post nice threads about them. imageimageimage More seriously, I have no idea how I rate such treatment. The same thing happened to me in their last auction in November, though at least that time the invoice posted and I managed to pay for the coin the same day it arrived.

I agree with the great services provided by Heritage. I think that unless you are red-flagged for some reason, their shipping department wants to clear their area quickly because they know many more coins for shipping are coming in the next day. Well-oiled machin in my opinion.

All I can think of is that my packages from Heritage come to me by Registered mail. Maybe this is not the normal for Heritage, so I get set aside awhile, but I prefer Registered. Some years ago I had a Heritage package delivered to my front door without requiring my signature. That did not sit well with me.

I paid my invoice a couple of hours ago; I dream and hope that mine will arrive within 10 days.
    When in doubt, don't.

Sometimes I get coins before I pay, sometimes well after. These are the things that life is too short to worry about, IMO.

The way I look at it, my coins have belonged to someone else for 120-200 years, will belong to me for 5 to 10 to 20 or 30 years, and in the grand scheme of things, if they take an extra week or two to get to me, it's not the end of the world. I mean, we are not talking the Stack's delivery schedule here, are we? image

Heritage must have stepped up their delivery of auction lots. My FUN invoice showed Tuesday, and I paid same day. Today, Friday my package was shipped to me. Monday is a holiday, so I hope to get delivery Wednesday. Whoopee!

Last April I won a coin that came to $1610 ($1400 + then 15% BP or $1610). I paid immediately. 2 weeks later, no update on their website to indicate coin had been shipped or any sign of tracking info. After 3-4 calls to customer service over the next 2 weeks (now 4 weeks waiting since payment), it finally shipped. Tracking info followed shortly thereafter. USPS site showed the service to be USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation and did not say insured mail .. I wasn't worried but I was uneasy.. 3 days after shipment the USPS website showed the package left Texas and arrived at the sorting facility somewhere in California (I live in Massachusetts). I called Heritage when I saw this and spoke with customer service again to advise of this ( trying to CMA and do the right thing). With each call I got a little more irritated and by now I was asking if this was sent insured and/or with signature confirmation since I did pay $20 for shipping and the USPS site indicated the only service was delivery confirmation. Truthfully I forget the exact conversation verbatim, but I remember the closing of the conversation was if the package does not arrive by next week I would call back. The coin did reroute to Massachusetts over the next couple days (it is rare but not unique for a package to route incorrectly with the USPS based on the stories I have heard and read) .. I came home from work on a Tuesday night expecting/hoping to find the pink slip in the mailbox .. Nope - the priority mail flat rate cardboard mailer was squashed into my mailbox with nothing but delivery confirmation. In the end the coin arrived safely

5 weeks from date of payment I received my coin. $20 something for delivery confirmation for a $1610 coin was my worst experience with HA. I have to say the handful of other experiences were not like this. I do remember them telling me on the phone that they had just moved into their new office and the people/customer service reps I spoke with each time were mostly professional.

Can't complain about my Heritage service either. Paid for my lot on Tuesday and received it on Friday via FedEx Overnight Express. I understand the reason it took even that long is because several of the Heritage staff who were at the FUN auction came back home with the flu.

I've always had great luck with Heritge- I routinely get the coins ( via Fedex overnight ) the same day
I get the invoice- maybe it's because they already have CC and bank checking #'s on file, but I can
    live with that.

I am a Legacy client with Heritage and normally receive my lots
within a day or two of their posting their invoices. On a rare occasion,
they'll delay shipping ( usually on Internet Only Auctions run during
the week ) but no matter how slow they get they are still the fastest
shippers ( and the most accurate ) in this business.

A couple of friends and I are floored as to how fast we receive our lots.

If you feel slighted by their shipping, I'd contact your Representative
( I use Win Callender ) and discuss your concerns. They are very receptive
to working out any kinks in their system.
