How do ANACS DMPLs compare??

I was looking at ebay this am and spotted this auction for an 1883CC MS65 DMPL ANACS. The BIN was 250. Greysheet is 475 so I was getting ready to BIN when I see some AH killed the BIN with a bid of $30. Now does he expect to get this for less than $250? if so maybe I am don't understand something, are ANACS DMPL selling at a big discount to PCGS or something???

    I had 3 ANACS DMPLs. One was clearly overgraded. The second may or may not be overgraded. The third is frosty but clearly does not have deep mirrors. It is a beauty though, I'm keeping that one. I like the luster you can get on a PL, DMPLs don't have that.

    Hard to tell if it is in fact a 65DMPL from the photo. Holders are nice guides, but buy the coin.

    Every ANACS DMPL that I ever cracked came back PL from PCGS and when I cracked them and sent them back to ANACS they became DMPLs again. You shouldn't buy DMPLs sight unseen anyway, especially ANACS slabs.
    Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    No disrespect implied: How do you know the AH killed the BIN with a bid of $30? If a coin has a BIN of $300 and an opening bid of $30, and I, the first bidder, bid $250, the BIN will disappear and the bid amount will still be $30 because it is the first bid.

    Hello everyone!

    In my opinion, a great many ANACS DMPLs are not DMPLs by the same definition PCGS uses. (NGC for that matter, too.) In fact, it is the DMPL designation where I believe PCGS differs most dramatically from both ANACS and NGC on Morgans

    My "read" on what PCGS allows for the DMPL designation is a coin that has essentially no frost in the mirrors, no metal flow lines at all, and only a few light die polishing lines. PCGS wants a coin whose mirrors have a very "liquid" appearance, whereas ANACS seems to go by reflectivity for the most part.

    That said, if you can find ANACS DMPLs that will cross at PCGS, you have the opportunity to pick up some huge bargains.

    dennish hit the nail right on the head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! absolutely correct now i bet there are monster great coins in anacs holders for dmpl but i think they are few and far between

    like someone said above buy the coin not the holder! currently pcgs is the best grading dmpl morgans but just make sure if you ever buy a morgan dmpl raw pcgs or whatever you know and understand what you are looking at or you might lose your ass
