Not too long ago, 1867-s was considered a common date. I had a ch. VF 30 coin in my hand in 2002 at a Hagerstown, MD show that was priced at $43. I didn't buy it because there was so little interest in the series at the time, and I could get one at any given coin show. When I started collecting the series in earnest around 2008, I couldn't find a nice XF anywhere! I recently picked up an original XF45 on eBay for something like $130, and I would not have gotten it for that price if it had not been a Buy It Now. The supply of these coins has dried up in an alarming fashion. The dreck is left circling the toilet pipe that is eBay.
