, but I am not completely sure thought...I was wondering how much it is worth. I dont plan on selling it, but I just want to have an idea.
I found this coin 15 years ago on a hidden beach spot, in Portugal. It is makes sence since Portugal was part of the Roman Empire, but still I think it is really rare.

It looks like a Roman bronze of Trajan ,c.98-117 AD. Hard to tell for sure from the photo. The condition is less than fair so I don't think there is a lot of value. Maybe someone with sharper eyes than mine will correct me if I am wrong?
The pics were taken with a ipod, so yeah, quality sucks.
Maybe Dabigkahuna is leaning in the right direction- it could be a provincial bronze of Trajan. Then again, do I see the word PIVS at about 1:00 on the obverse? If so, it could be Antoninus Pius, I guess, and we're just not seeing his beard due to the wear on the coin.
It also looks like there is a radiate (spiky) crown on the emperor.
Regarding the link, it is definitely NOT Manlia Scantilla! That's the wrong gender completely!
Here are three pieces I've had recently. They are silver denarii, but since one is of Trajan and the other two of Antoninus Pius, they can give you some idea of the portraits.

With better pictures, I think this one you posted should be identifiable. You not only have a relatively clear portrait there, but some of the lettering in the legends is also visible. I suspect you will find it is neither rare nor especially valuable, so don't get your hopes up, but regardless, that is a really neat find, and remarkably well preserved for something found on a beach! Beach finds tend to get heavily worn and/or corroded.
What is the approximate diameter of the coin?
The metallic composition? Looks bronze in the pictures, but the color could be off. Is it a reddish or brownish copper, or a yellowish brass?
What can you make out in the legends, i.e., the lettering?
Can you post better pictures?
