Hmmmm, Is it better to be a consignor than a bidder at the FUN auction?

I had my eye on maybe 20 coins at the Heritage FUN auction. My focus is a bit narrow, but included a reasonable variety of issues. I bid through a dealer on one really, really desirable piece and bid on my own on a couple of others I was comfortable taking a stab at sight-unseen. Wow, did I ever get blown away! Zilch. Not even in the ballpark. Last year at the FUN auction.... same experience. I think I maybe won a single coin.
Other Heritage & Stacks auctions seem to be better buying opportunities.
Now, I guess you can make the argument that the FUN auction brings out the really good stuff and that smaller auctions like Long Beach or the regular Internet auctions don't carry the same quality of material. Some of the coins though were pretty standard fare - not dreck, but on the "usually available" list. Even these seemed to go for strong money. Bidding seemed to be very active and very strong. I would think most consignors would be pleased with the results. Of course, my perceptions might be completely different than someone else who collects in a different area.
If I ever feel a need to get rid of my collection, I know which auction I'd be consigning to.

That said, I know a few collectors/consignors who have been burned at FUN auctions, but that's more the exception to the rule.
