Any Buffalo 100 yr anniversary coins planned in 2013?

ZubieZubie Posts: 1,160 ✭✭✭✭
I've been out of the coin loop the past 6-12 months, but, was wondering if the Mint was planning any special Buffalo Sets in 2013 for the 100 yr Anniversary? Sorry, if this has already been talked about, just didn't see any recent posts. Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim! There was a thread earlier asking the same question, but no real indication from the Mint that I am aware of. Someone who follows the Federal Registry might be able to shed some light on this, but it's been fairly quiet on the question lately.

Hey Zubie, it's a good question. They did some stuff in 2001 and 2008 (and since..) wonder what they'd do? Fractionals again (would be nice)

    Ciao Tim!

A recent survey from the US Mint mentioned the fractional buffalos. Let's see...I hope they do something.

Haven't they kind of pumped that well dry already? They made a Commemorative a few years back and used the design again in the Gold Bullion area.

There's been a rumor going around about a four-piece Buffalo set for 2013 for the 100th anniv., but nothing on the product list yet. Would be a good seller imho.

I had a few 2008 W Fracs, but sold them all for my house. Not sure if a 2013 set would drive down the prices of the 2008, but, I've been wanting to pull the trigger on a set. Wondering if I should wait to see what happens this year?
I'd imagine they would sell a ton if offered in 2013.
Thx for the quick reply guys, good to hear from you!

    a two coin holder from PCGS with a MS 1913 T1 5c. and a 1/4 oz. 2013 $10 would make a nice display...

and also demonstrate the loss of purchasing power of Federal Reserve Notes since it takes $10 today to buy what a nickel did 100 years ago. image
