We're encased CSA stamps used?

Reading a CSA stamp site (don't ask) it is mentioned the 20 cent stamp was used much as fractional currency...got me to wondering about encased stamps in the south

Not encased, just used like you would paper money.

I think so. Heres a link to a site about the history of postage (via the National Postal Museum).
    Encased Postage
I am not so sure about far south, but I would imagine Virginia, etc. would have accepted them.

I have collected CSA stamps (and covers, etc.) for years, and never come across an encased example.

I think it's possible that encased Union postage would have been accepted as small change in some of the border states, but I do not believe that any CSA stamps were ever produced.

To my knowledge, all of the encasing was done in the North.
