Slabbed coins have so many advantages over raw that for me, it's basically impractical to consider cracking them out just to put them in an album. Still, albums do have a certain allure that slabs just don't. Maybe it's the ability to see an entire set of coins in one little spot.

I love the 7070s that people have posted here. For whatever reason, they've become a de facto standard way to collect and display a type collection.

So, I thought it might be fun to buy an album, photograph it, and Photoshop the coins into their proper positions. It's cheating, a little, but it's a fun way to see the coins. I do with they'd have made a spot for the $3 gold and the type-2 gold dollar, but, nothing is perfect:

If we get too many more blizzards here I might start on pages 1-4. It's going to be a few years before they'll be full though.

Nice! I've completed that page, but, like you, a few are still in slabs. I may try your trick -- I think it came out quite good. Thanks for sharing...Mike

Where are you looking?

If you're looking at the 12 o'clock position of the 2-1/2 Dollar Indian, you're seeing the clear prong from the new Edge-view holders. Like I said, I'm cheating.....

yes I mistyped, I am looking at the 2 1/2 dollar at 12 o'clock. it looks like a cud, which of course would be super-awesome on gold!

But either way, good job on that page!
