Did anyone view or purchase any SC$'s sold by Jeff Shevlin at F.U.N.??

I just finished looking at some of the medals sold at a sealed bid auction last week and wondered if any members were eventual winners?? While viewing the auction lots I came across some from the Ostheimer collection sold in the past few years......................all I can say is Wow!!! Some of the examples are rare and all incredible. It stuck me that there is beautiful, rare and rare & beautiful which is the best of both worlds. It behooves me that more of what I would term Standard Coin Collectors haven't at least expressed an interest in these medals. Beautiful designs, absolute rarity and very modest prices by comparison to coins should spell popular but it just isn't so.

But back to the original question-----Did anyone buy any medals from those recent auctions??

I read that Shevlin announced that he was recusing himself from the business when he accepted the post of Executive Director at A.N.A. Did I miss an about face on that point?

He did not have a table here, from what I know he is not dealing while the exec director. He is allowed to but chooses not to.

he has indeed ceased to sell and operate as a dealer in that capacity but if you check this link it seems he had a sale at F.U.N. perhaps because he had already made arrangements and taken the deal prior to the ANA commitment.

The ED should not even be "allowed to." The conflict of interest is so prominent it's laughable. If the ANA bylaws allow the ED to deal in numismatics while holding the position, then the bylaws need to be amended. At least JS has the ethical character not to do so while ED. Too many "admired" people have used the ANA for their personal gain and have placed that gain above what is best for the Association. [And no, I won't disclose who, but their antics are legendary among the staff.]

Keets -- the link you posted is for FUN 2012 -- last year's show. He hasn't updated his web site.

If there was a different sealed-bid sale of medals last week, I missed it. :-(
