Is PCGS grading coins in California this week?

Was wondering if PCGS was working in Newport Beach this week, or are all the graders at FUN? Have an economy order from 11-25, thinking it should be done soon.
Thanks.

I would not think they would leave the barn empty.

I would call them to be rest assured. Here's the number: 1-800-447-8848.

Not to worry as they have enough graders that some stay behind and hold the fort image

Economy seems to have moved to the back burner. I have an Economy order in from 12/10 yet my Modern orders from the same date have already been graded, received, and sold.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I'm waiting on a "Regular Tier" delivered 11-22, and logged in 11-27. I added variety and true view which it says add 3-5 days, but I'm unsure if it's 3-5 or 6-10. Regardless, skipping the entire week of Christmas, today is the 28th business day.

    Yes.
I called them yesterday to verify they could do a walk-through (2 business day) raw grading and they said yes.

I have noticed in the past, that when the A team goes to the big shows like FUN, ANA, etc, then several of the economy orders get fulfilled by the left behind graders. I do not know this as factual, but its seems to be the case. I have had several economy and modern orders in process for the longest time, then bam they are processed while a show is going on.

  • I recall DH mentioned they lock a bunch of the darkside graders in the basement when they take road trips. image

I had a submission, received on 12/11.........grades posted (don't ask...image either my eyes suddenly went south on the series I know best, or the grading room is occupied by different-than-normal graders. A PCGS holdered PF65 'Bird, I cracked it as it's a 66 all day (got it from Tom). That one did NOT even meet same grade (semi-recently graded..barcode on front, blue label....same as before the prongs). I was certain it was an upgrade...it'll be going back......but, I digress....appears they have SOMEONE there. Though, I wouldn't want my coins in the grading room anywhere NEAR the FUN Show (or any major show) dates....thought I had the show beat, but.......guess not.

So, yes, there are people there, but, again, I wouldn't want my coins in the grading room anywhere NEAR a major show, especially FUN. For some reason, near major show times, boy grades seem to be all over the place, but the whole submission is a story for a different day....out of 4 coins, boy was there a BIG difference in expected vs actual grades, and I'm usually strict on what I give them for expected grades, so no more submitting 1 month before or 1 month after a major show (not the first time, but definitely the last).

edited to add....my 'mess' was shipped back yesterday.
    I'll come up with something.

Looks like they are only working on SHOW SUBMISSIONS by the dates recieved.

I don't think so. Show submission are worked on by the graders that are "at the show". Submission submitted AT the show, generally don't even show up in the system until AFTER PCGS gets back FROM the show.

I made that mistake at Longbeach in 2008. I figured I'd fly down there, submit my coins, view some coins and then have them show up in the system almost immediately.

It didn't happen that way. I think they showed up on the Wednesday or Thursday AFTER the show.

Day 29 has come and gone...Nothing. Never had one take this long. I figure 11-27-12 to 1-19-13 is gonna make it 2 months.
