sad to learn our friend has passed away. i think he did a number of coin related episodes in his 18 seasons.

My friend sent me an LA Times archive link with a photo of him with his collection of found objects in his apartment. He had a superb eye as a collector IMHO.

Howser was one of the reasons I watched tv I watched his shows here local for 2 decades or better. He sure will be missed thankfully his work will hold up well as time passes he stands alone in his unique genuine way he presented his program.

This is too bad.

I don't know if anybody outside of California has seen his shows but in state his shows shared lots of hidden places that were often nearby and fascinating. His programs were always interesting, humorous and educational.

I was told of this in the morning and I'm very sad to hear about his passing. He was an amazing person and showed just how great California is. He will be truly missed by his loyal following.

I watched most of his shows. Very nice man. The only time I heard him exasperated was when they got lost and hiked the wrong way on miles of steep volcanic rocks looking for the northeast state boundary.
