They did not want to pay the auction houses there fees and have it sell for less then what they are worth along with grading all of them I guess. The keys will be graded and the sim keys will be auctioned at the shop but all the rest will be sold at the shop.

Interesting way to sell this type of collection. With the vast numbers of buyers available through the Internet, why do a local B&M auction and sale only? It takes little money and effort to post images and descriptions on a bare-bones, self-created website. Then again, if I were advising and wanted "first shot" and a limited audience, I would encourage an "on-site" only approach to the sale. image

The shop has a strong local clientele, but why not reach out to tens of thousands rather than tens of dozens?

I know they had every thing under the sun in this B/M and any one that knows this B/M can tell you this is right. They auction alot of stuff at auction houses and lost $$ so when they auction at the B/M they did not pay any fees and got better prices. I have no say in it but they been doing this for months and selling alot of stuff at market prices, Just now they got to his collection. Hope every one that can make it will I dont say where i get my stuff but this was one of my best honey holes ever and letting you guy know 1st hand. Good Luck picking and have fun.

    Wish I could go image
Would love to see what toned silver Roosevelts they have, and what half-cents they may have.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

are they going to sell anything internet wise? just wondering is all
  • Not asking for a lot of energy expenditure, but can you give us an insight into what kind of material, such as MS type, extensive collection of whatever in high circulated, or something to help those of us in Southern CA who might be tempted to go if we know that what we collect will be there. I'd like to know what the seated material is like.

Any way to get this info? Phone or posting?

    thanks

If you like seated GO you will be happy. I cant say much but if you can go just go. This is the owners collection of his coins. That no one would be able to buy till now. Some of the coins would bring 10k to 50k in auction. If you have the time go by is all i'm saying. image

I sure hope that the beneficiaries of this sale are first and foremost Don's immediate surviving family.

WoW i got some nice stuff will post pic tomarrow or so and it was price right at 1st they gave out numbers and a limit to 5 coins per buyer but you could get back in line to pick 5 more and that gave ea collector a chance to buy some nice coins but @ 2:00 they pulled that limit and you could buy as many as you wanted. It was nice to get some good coins at a good price. Next week it will be Seated halfs, Walker halfs, Dollars.

    Here is one.
