I have certainly seen many PCI coins that toned more attractively than that. Not saying this one is ugly at all. I like it. Just that some of them are stunners.

Looks to be very solid for the grade, as one expects from that era's PCI's.

Too bad no color really except peachy monotone. I like it, but agree, not a PCI stunner image

I sent in some PCI crossovers recently, PCGS didn't like the toners like this very much....

I'd like to know what sort of chemical recipe is in those old PCI holder inserts... this is a 57 cameo franklin in an old PCI holder with peach, pink, gold, green and purple...

I like the over all color on both sides. For the price I think you done good.

Stefanie: I like the two-sided brown toning of your new 1879-S Morgan, and think that it's an attractive coin.
It's got strong underlying luster that shows through the toning. Some of the old PCI Green label holdered coins are conservatively graded, and can typically be purchased for a discount vs. top tier TPGS holdered coins. image

    Thanks Stewart,
I do agree the coin does have very strong luster that comes through the toning. And the grade looks to be accurate as well.
I haven't decided to leave it in there or crack it out to submit. If I do crack it out I will post the results here.

Not all PCI Morgans tone wildly. I sorta like the look, who knows maybe in a new environment
the toning will progress into a full blown Monster. The coin appears to fit the grade too.

I like it. Obverse looks like a 66 or maybe even better.
