How Would You Handle the "wrong" coin Christmas Present?

What do you do with a good many Xmas gifts you never, never would have purchases for yourself? You smile and tell the giver how much you like it. If you're lucky, it's not somethingt to hang on a wall given by a frequent visitor to your house.

True that. So many well meaning people will go out of their way to buy you crap without realizing it (e.g. the Littleton birth year set mentioned above). I had to tell people not to get me coins because I was very particular about what would go into my collection, and they understood.

The only exception was my MIL, who would buy me Canadian Mint products.

Assuming it won't cross, I would buy the PCGS coin, THEN sell their coin and if they ever asked, tell a white like that it crossed. --Jerry

Gee wish I got that as an xmas present. Would put it in my online store.

Be sure and thank whoever gave it to you. I would consider my set complete and upgrade some of the cheaper ones. Whether PCGS or NGC not a prob for me as long as I like the coin.

If a matched set a big deal you can try to cross it but I would caution about cracking such a big ticket coin from its holder. I would not cross for less than the grade on the holder. Then if I just had to have a matched set sell the NGC coin either at a show or on the Bay. In terms of valuation or pricing inventory for sale I consider PCGS / NGC coins the same (and so does the CDN via its average for the CMI).

keep the coin and be thankful you received such a thoughtful gift.

I would not even attempt to cross it, I would appreciate it for what it is-

<< <i>Perhaps you could try and cross it. They way you get to keep the coin that was given to you as a gift. Worth the cost of a fee if you ask me.

That seems to be the logical solution.

Much love and money went into this gift.

Do you take out your coins for friends and family? Keep it in the house and show it off as "one of my favorite coins in the set". Tell the story. Non-coin people will glow

You can cross it or later get another 24-S for the SDB.image
