Getting a toned coin properly appraised

Of the few actual coins I still have, one of my favorites is an 1883-CC GSA Morgan graded (conservatively, IMHO) MS61 by NGC, with light rainbow toning (reds, golds, greens, and turquoise) across about 45% of the reverse, diagonally graduating to the bottom right hand corner. (Hey, maybe it ain't no anaconda, but she's my girl and I think she's kinda purty). I'm not looking to sell it, but I would like to get a value put on it for insurance purposes. I know if I take it to a local dealer, they'll just look it up in the gray sheet and assign a value to it that way. But, dang it, I KNOW it's worth more than that and I'd like to get it properly evaluated.

This coin is also a very near or mint state coin but has gotten almost NO attention!

IMHO, mine's a bit nicer. Again, maybe Miss America ain't callin', but she's a beyootee qweeen in my eyes.

BTW, the toning looks kinda washed out in the scan. It's not.

Your coin is nice, but, I doubt it has enough toning to warrant a premium. It is, for lack of a better term, expected toning for a non-white coin.

I have to agree with Gilbert on the coin not bringing a premium. With a reverse toned dollar you would have to have more coverage of the toning, and the colors would have to be vivid. This is just my opinion and you may get other opinions that don't go along with my way of thinking.

Expected or not, I also think she's kinda' purty and like so many ladies that have been around awhile, I suspect she's more colorful in person.
