Continue into 2013. It is currently last call 12/31/12 for the remaining 2011 Issues.

It is my understanding that they have to mint them in the year they are dated but can sell them as long as they hold out.

Sales of 2012 1st Spouse coins will be continue to be sold in 2013. However, I think, by law, that the US Mint cannot make 2012 dated coins in 2013.

Therefore, if only we know how many coins they minted.image

Could be some new lows there but who knows for sure.

New lows would be nice, but not likely IMO. The Mint's experience with the 2011 unc. Lucy and Lucretia, especially the flood of orders that occurred just after the coins went "backorder", along with their sharp price rise in the aftermarket, probably alerted the Mint staff to the fact that demand exceeds supply at the 2200 mintage level.

My guess is that around 3000 of each 2012-dated design have been struck in uncirculated.

I don't know. The Mint seems to be averse to having a backlog of backdate coins lately. At 3000, the 2012's could go to 2015 the way things are going especially if the price of gold is falling. We shall see.

Did we ever find out what the quality issues were that delayed production of the 2012 Coins ?

I'm too lazy to do a search for the answer.

I have seen this thrown around a lot, any source for this? Can they mint more of the 2012 spouse coins in 2013?
