New PQ sticker
I was tracking this 1923-D MS67 Saint in the recent Stacks Bowers auction, and it went unsold. Nice coins in this grade rarely slip through the cracks at auction, indicating the strong likelihood this coin is of marginal quality or less, for the grade. Now this exact same coin has made an appearance on the web with a new "PQ" sticker on the upper left side of the slab. I have never seen this particular sticker before. Does it have any relevance?

My Best Regards,

I do a lot of buying from a couple of dealers whose opinions I've come to trust. And when one says it is a PQ coin it generally is. So I suppose the answer is "it depends on the dealer".

<< <i>I think this is more of an attempt to bamboozle the novice collector or new investor with the sticker. Dealers and educated collectors certainly know the significance of a CAC sticker. The potential newbie may not know the difference and pay extra for a coin not worthy of a premium. >>
If a potential newbie is shelling out cheddar for a 67 Saint without doing his homework then I'm not too worried if he gets bamboozled. But given the realities of Stickerland where we all now reside I'm not surprised when someone doubts the quality of a non-stickered coin especially in an expensive grade...almost impossible to look at this one and NOT wonder if CAC didn't like it....even if it has never been to CAC!
