Do current mint released 90% silver coins get milkspots?

I believe so, but to a lesser extent. Perhaps they are more careful with the smaller volumes.

Almost never see a milk spot on anything but silver eagles and almost all milk spots are in PCGS holders. --Jerry

My local B&M dealer had several book/folders full of spotted NGC slabbed ASE's. They were all messed up and I'd never seen such a large volume of milk spotted coins. I asked him what was up just to see what he had to say. He said "Oh, those are Chicken Pox, they all get those".

I haven't noticed too many spots, except on eagles as previously noted.

Let's not forget that ASE's are 999 silver which is more reactive than 900 coin silver so one would expect that milk spots would be more common on ASE's.

You're not looking too hard at all then, spots are everywhere on naked silver from almost everywhere. I have maples, eagles, phils all spotted. I believe there are Boy Scout spotted commems that I've seen.

I wonder if someone can (or has) scrape off some of that milkspotting and chemically analyze it?

Seems like 90% would be more reactive than .999 due to the alloys used. I just might be thinking backwards on this....??? It's 5:00 somewhere.

I have personally never seen milk spots on a ASE that was not slabbed. I have never seen milk spots on any other coins.

Completely false statement. Milk spots are on all Eagles , any holder, 2x2 or raw. I don't mean on every single coin but they have no holder preference.

I have handled thousands of 90% Commemoratives and only ever saw but (1) with a hint of Milk Spotting.
