I don't know if any adjoin and don't require an outside walk, but there are some that are very, very close.

Peabody Orlando is a very short walk (across the street). It's on the higher end.

There's also a Red Roof Inn that is a short walk. It's on the lower end, price-wise (stayed there last year, no frills but adequate for a couple of nights)

The Peabody has a skywalk to the convention center on the west end, and the Hilton has one on the east end.

The Rosen Centre hotel is right across the street, about the same walk as the Peabody. A nice hotel for a lower price.

Are you referring to the old OCCC on International Drive ? The new OCCC is off of Universal Boulevard. Did not know there were any hotels connected to the new complex, where the F.U.N. Convention has been held for at least the last 5 years.

The Hilton is connected by a (long) skybridge, but I found it to be the most convenient of the options. I believe it is the closest hotel per the various maps on the FUN website.

I usually stay at the Days Inn - short walk, very convenient, and reasonably priced. (Especially compared to the Peabody at $300/night or so).

I'm with the 15 min walk or bus ride from a $50-$100 hotel vs. the closer, more luxurious ones. The 15 min walk each way will do you good.

I've hit up a few red roof inns recently in a pinch.

let me say a couple of things.
    1) remodeling - marble countertops with new sinks, etc. although the exterior and interior walls just get paint.
    2) similar clientele - contact high from the weed smell from my last non-smoking which means no-toking, room. Transferred to another room with a burn hole in the comforter and it, too, was non-smoking.

worth the money though, and I've actually stayed in worse.... even a potentially Bates Motel in real life out near Palm Springs, CA. So, the RRI was livable.

Just booked mine today for the Days Inn right across the road. Seemed reasonable.

Normally, I would agree with you. When carrying coins, I prefer to minimize my walk. Besides, I will burn my calories racing @Coinosaurus for 10 mi each morning, before going to the bourse. image

Yes, but it can be quite cool in Orlando in January. Usually not, but I recall it being in the upper 30's/low 40's back in 2003 or 2004.

Last year I stayed in an apartment/condo type building about 20 min drive to the convention center. I got there on Tuesday and stayed till the next week Monday though. Apartment was great, well furnished and clean, I think it was $650 for the week. Costs were slit as we had another couple come with to take a vacation, not alot of sun up here in North Dakota that time of year so it was quite nice...and people thought we were odd for wearing shorts at 65 degrees out. I can get more info on the apartment company if anyone is interested.

Considering going, a very good chance (I still remember you, JJC... image !!!). School will be OVER for me, DONE, so a trip is in order, and this might just be the place for me to go...mix a vacation with FUN. My folks have 'time share' privileges at Orange Lake Resort, about 5-6 miles away, and that one WEEK will only cost me $199, for a villa that sleeos 10, hot tub, on a golf course, 3 free rounds of golf, two pools. 2 courses (and a 'par 3' for night golfing), and all the 'owner' privileges (it's a huge, beautiful resort... I live like Caligula when there w/put parents..lol). I know, 'time share' conjurs up the '80's/early 90's, junk bonds, etc.....most 'time shares' on Irlo Bronson Hwy (those close to Disney) have closed, there are so many empty buildings, when even 10 years ago, they were mobbed. However, Orange Lake is GORGEOUS, and still expanding.

Area hotel costs, last year, at this same time, were very reasonable if you aren't looking for a 5 star hotel....Orlando, downtown, is doing ok, but all the fancy places/time shares just outside the downtown area, when everyone had $$, hell, even 10 years ago when not everyone had $$, they were hopping..... man, those places are just a memory, now, tumbleweed city.

And then there is Charlies Steak House on International Dr...........mmmmmmmmmm!!!!! Here I come, my darling 50 oz Porterhouse and 1 1/2lb lobster tail (they put your name on a plaque if you finish it...YUMMY with a few Bud's, but does take a few minutes to finish)!!

Oh, the coin show too! lol
    I'll come up with something.

Go to the FUN web page and the adjoining hotels via skywalk are listed. You can make your reservations on the FUN web page for the Hotels supporting the convention.

The Peabody and the Hilton are connected to the convention by an open but covered walkway. The Westin is across the street. The Rosen Centre, Rosen Plaza and several other smaller properties are on the other side of International Drive.

People who haven't been to the show before should be aware that the area is spread out and even if an address is listed as next door there will still be a bit of a walk to the show.

I have stayed at the La Quinta Inn on Universal Blvd. It is very inexpensive, generally under $70 per night before the tax and includes breakfast for up to two people. It is surprisingly, a very nice hotel for the money.
It is nice that I can save some money on the hotel for more coin money.

I have walked it when I had time to walk to the convention center but it is closer to a 35 minute walk.

I once took the trolley to the other side of the convention center and if you are carrying a heavy bag, the walk on the skywalk seems soooo long! Then you had to walk to the ooooooooother side!

When you are fully loaded with coin purchases in the evening, I feel safer with the short cab ride to the hotel.
