Very scarce, especially nice ones, and very collectable. Your's is actually in good shape.

They are a fascinating series to collect. Charlton/Cross have catalogued some 60 varieties. The catalogue paraphrases McLachlan that a blacksmith in Montreal purposely created well worn and artificially colored pieces to pay for his liquor c.1835. I don't have a copy of McLachlan's work to confirm. These were also studied by Woods whose cat #'s are still used today and by Courteau.

Woods 33, BL-37 is known as a BITIT token and is the most common piece in the series of Blacksmiths typically selling for $15 to $65.

How many of the original Wood numbered pieces are available today? Overall how many survive? What are the Rarity ratings of some of these? Who is a good dealer familiar with these!
