1964-D Doubled Die - Which one?

WindycityWindycity Posts: 3,548 ✭✭✭✭✭
Here are pictures of a 1964-D Doubled Die Obverse half dollar. There are many listed on the Coneca site but I am having a hard time attributing this one. As images show, it has significant doubling. Any help appreciated.

  • without seeing a close up of the 9 & 6 of the date, the G of GOD and Y of LIBERTY, ... I would be leaning towards the DDO-010

    FS-103 TDO maybe?

The light glare at the P.U.P. is making it that much more difficult to determine the variety. I'm not seeing a tripled die, but that is the variety it resembles most. The doubling is not dramatic enough to be the FS-101 DDO but more dramatic than the FS-106 and FS-108 DDOs.

Can we get some similar shots of "IN GOD" and Kennedy's hair?

  • Below are a few quick pictures of a 1964-D DDO-010 that Dr. Wiles has confirmed as a stage C. Notice the die scratches and do they match your coin?

Not sure which one without looking at CONECA's site or CPG, but there's a definite spread. Nice example, too.
