2012 Spouse gold coins to be struck
Soon,
apparently, they are having problems with striking and attempting to correct.
They will update me as soon as they fix the problems.
I guess they are really concerned that I wasn't going to buy them when they release them so they send me a mail message.
Anyone else get that?

I knew it would happen.
I didn't get the memo either.
<< <i>I didn't get the memo, but did they happen to mention how many they are striking?
No mention of how many, but they did mention that I am a "valued customer of the United States Mint".
That makes me feel warm and ooooggelly all over!
it is .9999 pure after all. I am mystified why they'd have striking problems unless the detail is such that it is chipping and flaking.
where is dcarr when you need him.....

---------------------------------Announcement---------------------------------
The United States Mint has encountered problems with producing some of the 2012-dated First Spouse Gold Coins. Once the problems are resolved and final trial strikes approved, the First Spouse Gold Coins will be struck at the United States Mint at West Point and bear the “W” mint mark.
The West Point facility has production capacity to strike all four coins in proof and uncirculated qualities. As soon as we are certain the quality of these coins meets the standards you have come to expect, we will announce on-sale dates for each one. We apologize for the delay in releasing these coins.
<< <i>I got mine too. I wonder if PCGS will certify this letter
Mine is First Print, as I obviously posted the contents earliest!
Hard to feel warm and fuzzy about that!
It'll be interesting, though, to watch them cram 12 months worth of First Spouses into less than two months.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Box of 20
Well, you know the rest of the story.
<< <i>So I tore open the letter from the Treasury Department (I think the IRS has its own stationary), what do they want with me?

Same here ... oh no, what does the U.S. Treasury want with me.
Sugar magnolia blossoms blooming, heads all empty and I don't care ...

That's what I thought of first because the gov't is still having issues with me regarding my 2010 census inputs.

<< <i>I got the letter too. I thought for sure I was getting a reimburesement check for overpayment of taxes, or at least a rebate check for paying too much of a premium over spot.
So your glass is half full concerning gov't correspondence.

Dittos on that sentiment. That letter seems like such a waste of time and materials. It is like they are still operating in the last century. I guess that is one of the reasons why we admire the Federal Govt so much.

Haven't heard that rumor yet.....
<< <i>Maybe there was a problem with the tungsten centers showing through....

Referring to the gold bar found to be tungsten filled sometimes humor flops.

Oh, I got the joke, it was the whole idea of all my current coins possibly being tungsten that caused me the Doh!

So, what is it about this design which was so hard to strike and led to "metal flow problems?" They struck the UHRs well, you'd think that these would be easy.

I actually find her sort of attractive.
I'll be checking into therapy soon!
