Will this 78cc Morgan Plus? What do you think?

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,932 ✭✭✭✭✭
Nice subtle rim toning on the front and a killer blue/green PL reverse. Obverse
will not PL but still a nice coin to view in hand. What do you think and will they
PLUS it for the color? No hits to the date, that's weird toning streak across the 78.
thanks,

According to the information we've been given, plus grades are awarded for liner coins but the coins must have positive eye appeal. One aspect of eye appeal can be colorful toning but there are many other factors involved.

My personal observation is that PCGS rewards original subtle toning, but doesn't necessarily reward album toning or toning from old holders from other TPGs. All subjective of course.

Bob might be my monitor but if anything I think the toning on that one might garner is a -------.

Here's a slanted shot showing less toning and more mirrors. Hard to capture with my limited
    skills!

The up side for a + is good enough to give it a shot IMO but by the picks it looks like a 64 was a gift

I think that you'd have a better chance at getting a star ATS than you would a +, but thats not to say the chance is very high baised on those pics.

I like it and it looks very much like the one I owned years ago- I submitted mine to ANACS and I an trying to remember if it graded 63 or 64- it had a nice look like yours

Send it to me Bob, then I can give you my honest opinionimage
  • Bob,

I wish I knew what makes a Morgan get a plus. I purchased two AU58+ Morgans, but cannot tell the difference between many of my CAC AU58 & AU58+ Morgans.
