I remember looking at his listings some time ago and thinking that his raw grades were optimistic, perhaps that has changed as I have'nt looked his way in yrs.

I bought some coins from him 10+ years ago on ebay. They were generally enthusiastically graded and priced, but he was one of the better coin photographers in the early days of ebay and was pleasant to deal with. Occasionally, I will peek at his offerings but have not purchased anything since 2002 or so.

So true. Great images in the early days. I remember thinking his raw coins looked too good which caused me to think they might be doctored. However, he always had good feedback. I just never pulled the trigger. Would love to see his inventory in person.

I have purchased a few half dimes from him and had no problems with the ones I submitted for grading. Granted, I have been selective.
My favorite coin is this 1832 LM-8.2. Very scarce remarriage in the half dime series. I think he called it MS63, but both PCGS and NGC think it is MS61.
It's one of those coins that I don't care about the grade on the label, since it is one of the nicest examples of this die remarriage that exist.

I've also bought a few coins from Randy. While I sometimes think his grade estimates are on the plus side of generous, I've been pleased with the coins I've obtained from him. Randy is in part a consignment seller, and so, his pricing is limited by what his seller wants for the coin. Nevertheless, as others have noted, his pics are excellent, he's a fair and professional seller, and has a generous return policy.

I always view his stock, as it's varied, and as a Type collector, I often find his turnover enticing. Doesn't sell a lot of graded coins, but most of the raw coins are on the nicer side.

After replying I went and looked at his ebay offerings and reafirmed my original thoughts, many of his MS offerings look like sliders imo. I think if your very selective there may be afew coins that might be interesting, and as mentioned the pics are good and he does have a good return policy.

I have had three or so transactions with him, all raw Bust and Seated, and the coins were quite nice. I find that dealing with him in a venue other than eBay is a good way to obtain a price I can live with. Let's not forget how burdensome the auction fees have become for coin sellers. I can't blame eBay sellers for pricing their items so high these days.

I bought a fabulously toned '37 proof Buff from him several years back. Expensive, but a real beauty. Good dealer IMO.
