1963-D Jefferson.......I would call this one Full Steps, agree?

Pulled this one from a mint set this evening. Would you agree this has a good shot of receiving a FS designation?
Any opinions on grade? I'm thinking 64, but interested in hearing what others think...

my guess is that they won't treat that scratch/gouge very well breaking the lines of the steps like it does.
i've seen mercs and jeffies with impeccable separation only to be done in by a miniscule bump/ding etc, just brutal
too bad cuz that one is cloooooose
grade is probably 62, 63 if the graders didn't sleep well the night before
.
drivin me crazy over the years, alls I can say is maybe or maybe
not, with that I see it as a 63 or 64 at best, but nothing the less
a decent stepped coin that is tough,

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Nice find!
<< <i>Wow thats a ton of hits for a mint set coin, I could see that going as low as AU, as to the steps I think its a 50/50 chance. >>
That's what i was thinking regards the multitude of dings and dents.
two relevant points-----unstruck planchet flaws shouldn't be confused with post-strike contact marks and by my interpretation of the PCGS standard for assigning Full Steps this coin wouldn't make it.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
My Jefferson Nickel Collection
PCGS might.
But other more picky folks definitely will not.

Hits have never qualified a coin for AU. Luster breaks are needed for the AU designation.
The OP's coin is definitely not a 64. As stated earlier, 62 or possibly 63.

<< <i>Close. I could see it in a FS holder potentially but I could just as well see it not. >>
I agree.
