O/T Can My Sony Mavica Camera Do It??

I tried getting close-up pics of some 1972 DDO Lincolns, but couldn't really get
clear close-up pics of the doubling on the motto, date, etc.

If I bought a close-up lens for my Sony Mavica, would I be able to
get clear close-up pics??

TIA

Harvey

I'll bet it would, given the right lens. I don't have a special lens and managed some decent closeups in Macro mode with MY old Mavica, which I still have, lying around. Maybe it wouldn't be the first pick of a true photoguru, but those were some good old cameras. I used mine for a while, and took some nice non-macro outdoor landscape shots with it. Now I am wondering what to do with it.

I traded a Classic Head $5 for it, years ago, back when gold was cheap. Now I wish I had the coin. image

    .
does your camera have a macro mode?

also set your camera to maximum resolution so that the images can be enlarged with an editing program which reduces pixelation during enlarging

if so, post links to the original UNEDITED images and i'll take a look at them and tell you what i think you may do before purchasing. sometimes, minor adjustments can make a large difference

It should be able to do it in Marco mode but not being held free hand. May have too use editing software to enlarge.
Rather than buying a lens for it might want to think about updating the camera itself. (Unless you can find the lens very cheap.)

Don't buy the lens for your Mavica. Save that money and buy a cheap Canon Powershot online or at a pawn shop and read some threads on these boards about taking quality pics with cheaper cameras.

I had a Mavica and it's very limited for coin photography.
