My latest RANT......
Now that pictures are FREE for the coin category on Ebay there should be no excuse
to not show both sides of a coin. It frosts my arse to not be able to see a reverse
pic on ASE's. With all the spotting problems you think that you'd show both sides
of your bullion to help sell it.
NO EXCUSES ANYMORE NOT TO POST MULTIPLE PICTURES OF BOTH SIDES!
Also, while I'm at it, could the coin dealers that use Frog, and Photobucket and other
venues for posting pics, PLEASE just go back to Ebay's picture posting and enable the
MOUSE OVER feature. Much, much better than what you are now using.
I understand that there were other hosting sites that were better than Ebay's methods
but those days are gone, in my opinion!

The size images I put in my listings show bigger and faster from Photobucket than what eBay shows when I load the image to them. And with over five minutes upload time per listing it causes the connection to not be usable for anything else of almost a hour when loading a group of listings.
If I was ten miles closer to town I might go that route as cable would be available there.
Sometimes ebay will not allow an auction to be modified. You can get around this quickly and easily by editing photobucket pictures to include important info that had been omitted or is incorrect.

That is a lot. I wonder how many people this affects?

I think I read somewhere that 87% of the US population has access to DSL or
such through their Cable or Phone company. I know that uploading can be a
pain but when I upload 12 pics of something it does take a few minutes. Time
for a coke break or such for me.
IF you are a dealer and uploading all day and are making your living off of Ebay
then I can understand the time constraints.
edited: But the time it takes to upload to Photobucket, and then input the link to Ebay,
does it really save time for two pics? Just front and back is all I'm asking and add
the mouse over feature.

Multiple pictures? How many do you require? Two? Six? Forty-five?

I guess I was not clear. Two pictures, one of each side?
I think the definition of multiple is more than one. Two would normally suffice unless it's a variety
or such and then maybe another to show the detail. Not asking for much. Have bought a few
ASE's with "no problems" in the description and graded by our host or NGC only to get it here and
find the dreaded milk spots on the reverse which was never pictured. My bad but a pain in the
behind to send back and leave appropriate feedback.
Just saying, pictures can tell a lot more than you can describe. Or at least can explain your description.

<< <i>Trying to upload multiple pictures with eBay hosting and a slow DSL hook up just isn't always practical for all of us.

Google "Photo Optimizer" - free app that will knock the size a a 2/3/4/5 meg phot down to 50-120K. LOTS easier to transmit. You don't really lose that much quality....some.....but only if you are trying to blow the picture up to 200% of normal.

I do not necessarily agree. I'm one of those Photobucket guys.
PS- I DO use eBay hosting for one picture, though, so the mouse-over feature works. Then I put a bigger Photobucket picture in the body of my listing. Best of both worlds that way. I for one have not always been enchanted with the too-small eBay images. I merge all of my coin obverses and reverses into one image, so I only have to put one in the eBay mouse-over box area and one in the body of the listing.
