He missed a spot with the stickers.

He should have put one on top of the coin.

Back when I was working on my circ Barber half Dansco, these people's listings were all over the place. They had a lot of coins and a big selection, but their sticker craze always struck me as wacky and a bit tacky.

Eh, whatever. To each his own.

I think I might have bought a coin from 'em once. Can't remember. I do not recall ever getting one with kooky stickers all over it, though.

Edit- Yes, I did buy a coin from them. One of the keys of that old Barber half circ set, as a matter o' fact.

But I don't remember if they had stickers all over the 2x2 or not. In any event, I took the coin out of that and put it in my Dansco.

They were fine to deal with. I still laff at the sticker stuff, though.

What's comical is if most showed the photo of the coin here on a guess the grade probably the average grade guess would be MS63 RB.

Those stickers are supposed to be against Ebay rules now. I think it's a bit tough to enforce - they can't screen every listing. I rarely see his listings anymore because I filter him out of my searches. Those stickers drive me nuts!

I like that phrase PerryHall---"[he or she] takes the "I" out of "COIN"."

As for the coin itself, it looks a little off but it is possible that it is an OK non-AT coin. I find that PCGS seems inconsistent at times on copper color and I also think it is a difficult area. However, the stickers alone would drive me away from this coin.

True. That's why it's difficult to grade a coin from a pic. In this case the cleaning may not be visible in the pic and may only be visible under a good light source while tilting and rotating the coin so the hairline scratches become visible.

BTW, I'm of the opinion that not all "PCGS Genuine" coins would regrade as Genuine just like not all PCGS (or any TPG for that matter) graded coins will come back the same grade on a crackout and resubmit.

    << <i>Same as 2 Pizzas?!?!?!

So he's still using the pizza logic? Too funny. Has been using that one for at least two years.

I wonder if he's adjusted what he uses that sticker on, with the rise in pizza prices? image

Only went through a bit of his inventory and saw it on a couple of pieces with a tag around $25. So, two pizzas, but no toppings. image

I actually bought a coin from this seller about a year ago.

He was very nice to deal with and seemed knowledgable.

Too bad he 'degrades' his product with all those signs and stickers.

his items, his prerogative to add as many stickers as he sees fit. "questionable" doesnt definately mean bad. ive seen plenty of "questionable" surfaces in problem free slabs

Somebody who's selling a coin evaluated by a TPG disagrees with the TPG's opinion even though said opinion is clearly disclosed? Is that the problem here, or what?
  • I used to base all my spending decisions on pizzas. I would have one per week and had to really watch my pennies to afford one. If I saw something I wanted to buy, I'd tell myself, that would be a pizza ... or two pizzas, or half a pizza. Worked every time. Those were the days!

I can see the value in having this coin verified as Genuine, as in not counterfeit, but I wonder why he just doesn't crack it out instead of slapping a bunch of his own stickers on it to try and convince people that PCGS got it wrong.

Because he LIKES slapping stickers on stuff, and would slap 'em on there, regardless.

Yep. This is what I was gettin' at. I bought that Barber half from them and had a problem-free transaction. So not bad folks. Just a little tacky in the taste department, is all.

Probably had sticker books as a kid.
