    Interesting observation, Tim.
My records indicate the Rarity Ratings for both coins are the same in the grades G - F, but the 95O is priced much higher.
The mintage is lower, so the 95O is likely the scarcer coin.
In VF and up, the 95O is a very scarce coin.

Hey, I want to vote for 95-S in 63. Mine is very PL but PC does not evidently grade with this designation; do they ATS?

Seems scarcer than generally given credit for??

1895-P is a tough date in Unc. I think a lot of people have a proof for this date. I bought a PCGS MS63 a few years back and I was pleased to locate it.

I'm rooting for the O. Almost as good as a 16-D Merc if you're just looking for a desirable dime and don't care about series.

    Both are great dates...

Speaking of the P member MFH purchased a example at ANA that has magnificent eye appeal.

Not sure if he's had it imaged yet, but trust me if not it's worth the wait! image

  • I prefer the 95-O
However im partial to them since the example I own ive found in a junk bin and bought for melt. A nice xf example, with a gash on the reverse.

I was very glad to locate my 1895-o VF30, its been hard to find a nice 45-53 to. Most of the 45's Ive looked at didnt have any eye appeal to go with them, so I think Ill stick with my 30 for the time being...might be a few more years.

As for the P, I lucked out this year at FUN in January and found a nice 45 raw example that I later sent in and came back with 45 grade. Alot of hard dates in the set but all worth while purchases as my sets is worth much more then I paid for it starting 4 years ago.

Can't help but agree with Broadstruck, my new MS 1895-P in 64 has the look of a 67 !!
Check out the Barber Mega Tread Part Two. I also have another new 95-P in 55 for my
    latest complete Dime set ( P,D,O,S ) .

The 95-O is on my want list ( having sold my AU 58 last year ).
I am looking for a nice 45-50 for the new set.

Both the P & the O are tough coins to locate, but in XF/AU, the
    1895-O is the key date.

I don't consider my 1895-O Die Cap in PCGS 64 as part of my regular set.

Prefer the O mint where there are no proofs to muddy up the waters. I know it "shouldn't" matter....but it does.
