    Metal detector find.

I'll say XF details Net VF20.

Just a shot in the dark.

Net F12 because of the dig on the reverse.

Gosh, this is impossible to net grade. This is the reason PCGS doesn't do net grading. One thing I will say is that if you decide to sell that, eBay is the place. Better date large cents with excellent details tend to do very well in true auctions.

Looks like it was an AU or Unc before it was buried under 20 feet of muck.

    Net grade?.....possibly Fine to VF.

But net grade in this case isn't the important thing.

    It's the value that is.

Solution: start it at $1 on Ebay and it'll find its true value.

    XF+/AU detail, net grade F12/15.

XF40 details, net G4 because of extensive corrosion and the very noticeable dig on the reverse.

There is no reason to be generous with problem coins in this market.

I'd probably be pricing it around Fine money, or maybe just a tad higher. So I guess that's my net grade.

    I say AU details.

Dunno how I would net grade it, because I don't think that way (and was kind of glad when ANACS went away from the practice).

But if you forced me to net grade it, I dunno... VF net?

I like it. Agree that it was probably a detector find, and a lucky one at that.

I generally don't like net grading. I think it's fairer to say it's "x details with y problem(s)", then let the bidder/buyer determine how much the problem(s) should discount the piece.

I wonder what story that coin tells.
It must have been AU and red at the time
    it was buried.
Net grade? hmmm, 25 vf anyway you slice it,imho

I'd net that to a Fine. The surfaces make it a VF and that gash lowers it another grade level.

There are collectors that would like to have that type with details like that for 150-$200. I would net it at Fine, also.

XF/AU details, net grade F/VF. The gouge on the reverse is also quite distracting, unfortunately..
