Most of these are stuck on business strike planchets.

I look for centering, and super-stretch lettering, JMO.
this image is handy..........
It's a great off center brockage but the really nice part is that it's on a clad 10C planchet......
I used to be famous now I just collect coins.

While the errors in this thread are fascinating, this one made my heart miss a few beats. WILD!

Bought this one from EOC. Nice errors all, liking the nickel struck on the cent, really cool.

Has anyone else noticed the priced ragged clips like this are realizing on eBay right now? I watched two of them close in the last couple of weeks for very strong money, both Lincoln cents:
Undated ragged clip hammers for $66
1965 ragged clip hammers for $87.56
If someone had posted either of those here for an opinion, I would have guessed in the $25-30 range. I don't know how attached you are to your coin, aegis, but now would seem to be a great time to sell.

ZOUNDS!!!!!
Could just be the reflection from the plastic, but are you sure that is not an SMS strike?

I don't know a thing about the coin but it definitely has the look of a San Francisco safety deposit box hoard coin, and most of those coins were SMS or proof errors.

These are scans from my scanner so it could just be an illusion from the reflections. I admit I don't know if it originated from the "SF hoard" or not and I never thought about it being an SMS. Next time I'm down at the bank I'll have to take a closer look at it and thanks for giving something to look into.

Interesting in that I don't see one bag mark on the planchet.
Yep, that's part of the overall SMS look I saw.
The more I look at it, the more I like Sean's Bank Vault Hoard suggestion. The positioning of the brockaged date is just too cute.

I think you guys may be right. I never noticed the lack of marks on the planchet and it does make sense.

Nice double error.

I saw those too and thought the same thing. There seems to be some strong bidding for mid to high range errors lately. Some of the lower end stuff seems to be hit or miss.

Let us know what you think after you visit the bank again.
That coin was not in the SF Safe Deposit
Box hoard that I purchased (containing
the Two Tailed Quarter, among some
other spectacular errrors.)
I've seen that 1965 Jeff. in-hand, and I
don't believe it's a SMS coin - I think the
photo just shows unusual 'lighting' effects.
Just my view......
Besides the error, have you ever held a SEGS holder? I don't think any other slab comes close to it. I guess it's personal preference. It just has that beefy solid clean feel to it. I like it.

I only have two. Not major stuff.

PCGS label “obverse die cap, reverse mirror brockage”.
I love the full centered ones like that, great example !

Inexpensive and very cool at least to me. Love that super stretch States.
2 of my favorites.

How can such a thing happen at the mint? Is it one those made accidentally-on-purpose rarities that the Denver mint in the '70's was known for?

die cap is one of my favorites. Very nice error.
Jefferson Nickels have captured my interest of late. Some very cool error pieces seen here. Thanks to all who have posted images of them here.
