I never heard of her either. So, to me, it is just an MS67 1881-S Morgan Dollar and I would not spend any more or less than any other MS67 1881-S Morgan Dollar.
<< <i>Might be a great cause, but I would consider the slab a negative. As a collector, I'd rather have the coin in a normal slab.

Where is the grade, slab number, etc? On the back of the slab?

First off, y'all are a tuff crowd on the Breast Cancer Foundation. Maybe if it was the ASPCA ya might know about them but then again I'm not suire about that either. Anyway. I have this one pink ribbon slab and only because it has a 1879 S Morgan which is the only year and mint I collect in the series. The auctions I have seen for these slabs seem to draw a premium over what a price guide would suggest. I looked around and tried to see how much PCGS donated but need to maybe ask them. Did find this article from 2010 with comments from PCGS.
I would buy at a discount. I will give credit to the pr people, they got a ton of people to spend money to wear pink. The month of OCT the NFL was decked out in the latest fashions.

I think it is a great cause, but I do not care for the holders personally. To me, it would add neither a premium nor would it detract from the value of the coins.
Tuff crowd ! You got no idea. Seriously, I just don't see a correlation between the price and the holder of course one of those CAC beans would help you get more $$. Regards, Mike

SGK pays for that. They don't get people to do it for free. Something like 70c of every dollar donated to SGK is spent on "awareness". Very little goes to research. SGK is the poster child for fat, over-administrated, wasteful charities.
My guess is that SGK paid PCGS for each slab rather than PCGS sending money to SGK.

I figured that was probably the case but since i did not know for sure i was being a little vague.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a successful and meaningful breast cancer research foundation but their PCGS label coins do not bring a premium.

I think these slabs are less than popular, especially among dealers, because all the info (date, mm, grade, etc) is on the back of the slab. The dealer would have to display it in his case up side down or add a sticker with the info to the front of the slab.

These PCGS pieces are part of the whole "pinkwashing" thing that many different companies/businesses have done over time, donating varying portions of their proceeds to SGK. Susan Komen was born and is buried here in Peoria, but the organization was founded by her sister Nancy in Texas...it has morphed into a big corporate monster. They get hundreds of millions in income a year, and her sister the (now former) CEO was making half a mil a year herself.
According to a chart I found, their 2009-10 expenses broke down like this...
Research (20.9%) Public health education (39.1%) Health screening services (13.0%) Treatment (5.6%) Fund-raising costs (10.0%) Administrative costs (11.3%)
Seems to me that research and treatment should be the top two expenditures for an organization that demands that no other organization use "for the cure" under threat of litigation; I was surprised that treatment was only 5% of the total. Education, though certainly important, imo should be #3 behind treatment and research, and not #1.
The cynic in me is saying that the 39% for public education includes a lot of marketing and publicity. Interesting that it is about the same amount as research, treatment, and health screenings combined.
