For those who don't know (I had to look it up myself) "AC" is Atlantic City. Better hurry.

Yes, I would go. By the way, since the 8/11 article, the Revel got 100 million in financing.

How about a major show in Hartford, CT with the big three grading services?
Seems all the large coin shows are somewhere else image

AC is a pain to get to for anyone who can't drive there.

Air + Train or Air + Bus ? or Inconvenient Air?

the only airline to ACY is Spirit Air.

You can fly easily to Philly, but then you've got a haul to get to AC.

Also, what are the state tax consequences in NJ?

Otherwise, I'd love to see a show in AC. AC has the sand + sea combination I like.

As a new CT resident, I'd take one in NYC or Boston!

Personally I'd rather do a show that's really in NYC or Boston...not a distant suburb. Atlantic City is just too difficult go get to...

No - not an impressive city IMO.

I guess since I live in Atlantic City I could make it. Not sure why you would choose Revel over Borgata though!

  • Showboat (next to Revel) has pet friendly rooms, I've heard.
Would be a great place for a PCGS members only show on the east coast.

AC? I wouldn't be thrilled with AC as a choice, but would likely to the show anyway.

Good news - Revel is the only non-smoking casino in AC.

Bad news - Their management has made some very serious mistakes since opening not long ago, and they will be bankrupt in the not too distant future. As a convention organizer, I wouldn't want to give them a deposit very far in advance.

I'm not very familiar with NJ sales tax collection, but it used to suck 20+ years ago. Ask Julian. And the few shows in NJ in the red-hot 80's were not very successful on a critical level. For business results, ask MrEureka, who promoted one or two there (if I recall correctly).

A few years a show was promoted in NNJ. Didn't last.

AC? The travel logistics still suck for many, many potential attendees.

My take: Coinfest had a better demographic and geographic base and, sadly, couldn't make it. And the promoter (props to the OP)worked his tuchus off and gave highly professional support to both dealers and customers.

    Negatory(:

My response is a little OT but your "Good News" is the biggest mistake in your "Bad News".

If they held a coin show in the Revel, it would likely represent the most money the place has "brought in" to date!imageimage

What a corporate black hole..... sucking another bunch of millions of $'s out of the economy, while people who really need help can't find financing, etc......

Besides, wouldn't the salt air at the shore harm some numismatic items?
