Any new information on the credit card fraud situation that came up after the ANA?

The reason I am asking is that I just got hit by it ... and I didn't attend the ANA or any other coin show recently.

My credit card company fraud department contacted me about three suspect charges from yesterday and today. I confirmed that all three were fraudulent and the account was closed immediately.

My credit card was never out of my possession.

I'm glad the credit card company fraud depart is actually watching for things like this.

The credit card companies have software that flags unusual transactions that don't follow the card holder's normal spending patterns.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

You don't have to go to ANA to get your credit card info hacked. I haven't been to an ANA in years, but my card was hacked twice in the last year (the card was hacked and then its replacement was hacked too).

Note to self: Do not stand next to howards in a lightning storm.
  • I was at a small coin shop last week and the dealer was trying to clear up the problems connected to his CC getting hacked in Philly. BTW if you get emails wanting to buy precious metals and other coins without there being any reason why you have been contacted by someone with a mail drop, don't take it seriously. Also if you get an SOS email from someone you know who just was robbed of his/her wallet, etc. in London or Paris wanting you to wire money, once again it would be good to check with your friend/family to make sure this has happened and not another hack fraudster.
