Just came across this phrase in an auction catolog and it accurately describes the toning on a coin I own.
I'm wondering what other drescriptive adjectives for gold coin toning I've yet to come across?

    When I see the adjective in a coin description, I generally do not like the coin (FWIW).

    Was it a matte proof? If so, it might be quite attractive.

    It was a $1 Type 3 gold coin Tom with no image.

    "At indirect light angles, one can also discern faint suggestions
    of khaki-gold."

    This accurately describes the peripheral toning on my 97-S $5.

    Khaki to me sounds dull (no luster) and muddy. I wouldn't want that on a gold coin I own.

    Maybe they wanted to say "matte like" but didn't.

    But without a picture all I have is the image in my mind.

    Never heard this term before and I'm not sure what this khaki gold looks like. Can someone post a pic?

    Nice looking gold dollar but I sure wouldn't use the term khaki to describe its color.
