1964 H East Africa 10 Cent - Rare or Not. NGC World Coin Guide

wondering if the fact the "H" is considered rare is accurate and if the coin(s) will have an "H" at 6:00 Under East Africa

appreciate advice/opinions

Good question. There are two 1964h ten cent coins from East Africa. In Krauses book neither one has the "h" pictured on the coin. I have the post-independance issue in BU and the "h" is quite clear at the 6

o spot under East Africa. Anyone else have the pre-independance issue?

Not my area of expertise ... but I would interpret Krause as saying the 1964H KM#38 (pre-independence, with the Queen Elizabeth The Second legend) is rare, and the 1964H KM#40 (post-independence, with the Senti Kumi Ten Cents legend) is not rare. A check of coins listed on eBay supports this.

Where did the H go in the Krause pic for KM#40? No idea ... it wouldn't be the first time Krause had an incorrect pic. I'd expect the H to be at 6:00 (and not 6

o), consistent with most other Heaton mint coins.

the one i have with the H and the senti kumi does have it at 6 o'clock
