What is the most popular year to collect in all of Nimistmatics?

I would venture it is 1909 due mainly to the 1909-S VDB cent, but also because that year is rich in history and coin varieties and type.
What year would you venture is not necessarily the most relevant but rather the most popular, and why?

Unfortunately you are probably right but it isn't justified. >>
A related question: What do you think the most popular year should be?
<< <i>Well probably not 1933 >>
That could possibly qualify for: What is the most popular year to collect for allegedly-illegal coins in all of Numismatics?
<< <i>1964 >>
Because of the change to clad?

This year is probably my second vote given:
(1) Last year of 0.900 fine silver
(2) First year of JFK half
(3) Coins are generally less expensive and thus more accessible than 1909 and other key dates
(4) 1964-D Peace / Franklin fantasy over-struck coins
If it's not this year, it's yesteryear.

1916 is one year where the change in coinage made for an interesting and probably fascinating time for "collectors". There was the standing liberty quarter and the liberty head quarter, along with the dimes. Of course, who could have known the quarter and half that year, along with that lowly winged liberty head dime from Denver would command such attention in higher grades, later ?
With as many Morgan Dollars as there were vs. Peace Dollars and limited amount of enough collector coins remaining for collectors of Mercury dimes and Walking Liberty halves subsequent to that year, 1921 also makes for a good arguement as being the most popular year....But, I will stick with "this year" for the reasons previously stated. There is no time like the present.

I'm partial to these dates ... 1847, 1861, 1889, 1891, 1917, 1921 and 1947
My immediate reaction to the question was going to be 1909 as well.

<< <i>My WAG is 1916
Mine too!
It was the start of the WLH, Mercs & SLQs.
Two of those issues have key dates in those years 1916 SLQ & 1916-D Merc.
That was a GREAT year!
I also like the 1916-S Walkers!!

1878-1904.
Morgan Dollars.
Not only are there over a dozen different cent varieties to collect from that year, the Barber coins are cool and the gold designs are just awesome. Also lots of key dates and a few really tough coins if you're going for them all.

But 1916 probably covers a lot more territory with the end of the Barbers, and beginning of the SLQ's, Mercs, and Walkers.
My popular years are 1848, 1858, and 1867.
