  Just a lamination.

  As Tom said, a lamination.
  
  The chunk that peeled off
  the planchet is still attached,
  but it's a 'laminated planchet'.

  Thanks Tom and Fred! I appreciate your help. It just looked a bit different than any other lamination I have seen. Maybe because it was on the rim.
