Toned eagles that is. I'm not a fan of the GENUINE ONLY slabbed eagles, but will gather them up as I find them like this!

(The reverse is also toned but much more subtly.)

I agree.......and I have purchased many toned eagles in AT holders. Most if not all have been graded after
cracked out and sent in raw.

But there are also many that are blatantly AT

Agreed, but a .999 ASE will tone basically in any environment.
Seems it reacts with anything, stick it in your dresser it will tone.
PCI toners produce some nice lookers

I know the grade is low (MS64) but it does have marks that warrant that lower mint state grade.

I do have one wildly toned Eagle (1998) that used to be in an MS69 holder that I cracked out and is now in a GENUINE only slab, but that was by design.
Outside of that single example I do prefer these to be given the handshake by PCGS.

Hey that first image has a lot of RED! Imagine that

I have some of these from 1986-1987 and they've even been in my sock drawer too. They look nothing like I always see on here. I guess I need to find the right detergent?

And to think in the 80's it was popular to dip all the toning from them and now the doctors are hard at work AT'ing them

Yes, I know I bought it in that slab.
I plan on cracking and submitting raw.

It's nice toning, not spectacular but should
have graded non the less

I bought this in an AT slab cracked and submitted raw
it graded no problem. I showed it to David Hall before cracking and
he even said it is a beautiful proof.... Imagine David liking a modern

Small world. I purchased it off of Teletrade and agreed it needed to be cracked and submitted.

Did I sell it via consignment with greattoning?
I honestly don't recall how I sold it now. . .

Well I guess its like any other toned coin, after seeing so many you get to know the toning patterns and color progression patterns.
I used to collect toned bullion and seeing the color progression in the bars and rounds they are similar in toning. Some are rainbow
and some are wild. Just like anything else it depends on how they were stored. I am only referring to NT not AT.

I want to add......you can usually see the color or toning "pulling" or fading into other colors. That's usually a good way to determine NT as well.

This is a good example of toned bullion, the toning pulls away......
and the other shows a wild toning.......all bullion pieces which are closest to the ASE

As long as PCGS grades them, I'll collect them!
