Mine is trying to contain my dissapointment with not being able to go. I will NOT go to Chicago so this was my only chance, apparently, as it seems like it's going to be permanent to Chicago from now on.
Somebody, PLEASE photograph the displays! (The judged categories, that the list in the magazine, but never show) Thanks.

Nothing so exicting, can't really afford it and dealing with some health issues at the moment. After dealing with the health issues my family has faced in 2012, I think I'd rather it WAS being wanted, lol.

Wish I could attend as well. I have only made it to one larger show so far (just when I was starting collecting), the closest recent show was two hours away and I ended up being sick that weekend. But if I could go one of my priorities would be to meet in person some of the people I have had the pleasure of getting to know online. This includes a few of the dealers who post regularly, I respect them for the information they pass on to others.
Looking for Northern California National Bank Notes, Chico, Redding, Oroville.
See all my friends, meet new ones Drink some wine with Charmy Look at some early gold Look at some Oregon Trails Look at some coins in the auction Attend the auction Take a tour of the town with Mrs curly
Hang out with friends, golf, do coins, eat steak and drink beer, check out the Philly mint. Doesn't get much better.
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.

While 2013-15 are scheduled for Rosemont (I can't call it Chicago, because it's not!), I think there is a strong likelihood that future summer conventions will be in locations other than Rosemont. You might even hear an announcement of 2016 in the next few weeks...

I live just outside Philadelphia so I'll take the train in. The train ride is only $1 for the seniors. Check out the ANA displays and the judged ones too. I'll take my camera take some photos, maybe sell a coin or 2.
This ANA show was where I saw a 1901 O over horizontal O dime (a really nice one) and paid the dealer exactly what he was asking for the coin,no haggling involved.I paid him regular 1901 O retail price.Apparently,he was ignorant of the fact that his coin had special value over and above regular 1901 O dimes.
I handed him the money and immediately sensed that he was suddenly suspicious of me.Later,I concluded that his suspiciousness must have had something to do with the inspection glass on a lanyard that was hanging around my neck.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
Besides this being my first show, I really am looking forward to visiting the Reading Terminal Market right across the street for lunch. I used to do that once a month as a poor student 40 yrs ago. The place has charm, is funky and has great stuff to eat and see. Amish folks in traditional garb come down on early morning trains to sell farm goods etc. Best.
Successful trades/buys/sells with gdavis70, adriana, wondercoin, Weiss, nibanny, IrishMike, commoncents05, pf70collector, kyleknap, barefootjuan, coindeuce, WhiteTornado, Nefprollc, ajw, JamesM, PCcoins, slinc, coindudeonebay, beernuts, and many more

That's good to hear. I'd personally love to see it go to Lake George NY area. LOTS of hotels, lots of attractions for the family, lots of shopping and eating, and it would be the only place I can guarentee I'd actually be able to get to. I don't think it'll happen, though, as it seems only mega-cities get the nod.

Sad to say, but you are right -- that's not going to happen. There are a number of requirements that have to be met -- including the minimum size for a convention center (both hall and meeting rooms) and the availability of a certain number of hotel rooms. Although not a requirement from a logistics standpoint, the proximity of a large airport which has non-stop flights to most major cities on mainline aircraft is needed if we want top dealers to attend. (Regional jet flights don't work as dealer carrying cases do not fit the overhead bins of those aircraft.)
In the past, the availability of shopping, eating and attractions for the family have not played a major role in convention site selection. There will be more attention paid to some of those items going forward. There has been a number of complaints regarding Rosemont -- by collectors, world mints and even some of the smaller dealers and the ANA (at least the current board) has heard them.

Most of the dealers seemed intoxicated with a "gotta make some bucks here" attitude.
My objective became "not to be there" after this one ANA experience.
