Today's Coinstar Find

Today, sitting on top of the little counter of the local Coinstar machine were four coins from either Bermuda or Jamaica (all modern) and one 1943 Lincoln cent! Amazing that someone didn't take the time to look at the date after pulling it out of the reject slot. Made my day for sure.

As a coin collector, metal detectorist and fellow coinstar checker, I count my '43 steel cents some of my favorite coinstar finds. They're not as valuable as silver, but '43 cents are some of the only 20th century coins metal detectorists are unlikely to find "in the wild". Our machines intentionally discriminate out iron and steel in most cases, and even if we did dig a steel cent it would probably be so corroded as to be unrecognizeable. Finding one in a coinstar satisfies that hunt image

My coinstar keepers, less the silver and a bunch of clad I exchanged for silver awhile back...

Do you work in a place where there is a coinstar that you can check frequenly? Like I've said before, I have never found anything at a coinstar machine.

Today I found several customarily rejected Canadians - like those pure nickel 5 cents coins though - and three Detroit casino tokens.
