Net grade, ~VG10 is my guesstimate.

I agree more with this than with vf. I am even inclined to net at vg-8. Removal from mounts calls for a substantial downgrade, IMO.

For pricing purposes I am inclined to say G4. That is more based on the other coin 'damage' that I see. Yes the mount had something to do with it but overall the eye appeal says G4 to me.

Net G IMO...reverse seems to have suffered quite a lot from the mount.

Net G4. No need to be generous when damage is involved.

Good point, especially if you are buying!

Seriously though, not sure whether you are buying or selling, but I would use auction records of 1811 half cents, and this scarce issue has plenty of problematic 'net graded' examples to determine relative values from. At least this coin has a good brown color and I don't see any corrosion or significant verdigris.

    Oops...sorry...I misread.....VF isn't what I would net grade it.....more like a 6 net graded.
I was thinking something else and boffed that response (ignored the "net" portion and just focused on pure and the "mounted" part.

Not an expert here, but my gut would say Fine details, net G-6 or so.

Not that bad of a coin. Its a tough critter and in demand. I would say its worth good 6 dollars in the market place.

I wish it still had the mount. Still a decent coin even though ex-jewelry.
