GTG on newp 1874 1$ gold - Grade Revealed first post

Sorry Guys this one got away from me.
The Grade is MS-64 with the cert look-up
Lots of scratches on the holder, but good luster and nice toning in hand.
The reverse color range was flattened out to get more detail from behind the scuffs.

As always comments or questions are welcome. cert look-up

that's a common striking problem with these. you could be right about the grade though.

Striking softness as just pointed out above.
Notice how boldly LIBERTY is struck?

Luster grazes vs. luster breaks. There are grazes, but no breaks. The cheek and other high points would support that. What also looks darkish and similar to luster breaks
is the field luster reflecting back in patches.

The mint had problems with their gold dollar hubs that year. Some fully struck 1874 gold dollars have a partial or even missing "LIBERTY".
