I received one of those, as well. A bit too late, in my opinion. They should've done it along with banning PCGS graded coins from the competitive World registry sets.

Also, I think this thread is violating PCGS forum rules, as it's talking about a special offer of a direct competitor, so might want to do some creative rephrasing image

Funny thing is that I knew NGC would do something like this!

    PCGS only? Pass.

If they allowed ICG/ANACS/ICCS/CCCS I'd have been very tempted to send in my first submission.

Haha, have to take this chance to say "I told you so" - just looked at the first thread posted after the NGC announcement and my initial comment was:

    << <i>I'm with you, JCM.

Half of the coins in my sets are PCGS. I will not spend hundreds of dollars crossing them over to NGC because most are solid graded and I will just be throwing money away to get into a different holder. Most likely going to abandon some of my sets as an outcome of this change.

The decision may benefit NGC in the long run, but the execution is very poor. You want to force people to convert? How about delivering great customer service and offering a free cross-over period? Otherwise you're just openly telling a portion of your loyal customer base to screw off.

    Cheers,

    Roman. >>

  • I've thought about crossing some of my stuff over from (X) company to (Y) company, but what I don't like is that there's really no incentive for anyone to do this aside from registry sets. I'm perfectly content letting my stuff sit in X Company's holders until I get a better deal (like free crossing!). Even half-price crossing offered by our hosts or the competitor would be nice.

One thing I'm curious about, though, is whether or not NGC or PCGS inform each other when they cross over a piece. Does PCGS send a list to NGC at the end of the month saying "Oh, by the way we've thrown the following slabs in the trash -- na na na boo boo!"
Yes, I do sell on Ebay

Feel free to ask for my BST references!

<< <i>For a limited time, if you submit a PCGS-certified coin for CrossOver and it doesn’t meet our strict grading standards, you won’t be charged the full grading fee. Your coins will be returned in their original holders, and you’ll only pay $5. >>

For me its getting the grade right rather than the plastic its in. I have a few 58s that should be 62s. I have been successful recently in sending for regrade. I can also send in for crossover if I see no success.

What concerns me is the population reports being inflated as a result of both TPGs have graded pieces of the same coin.
