Any dealer members use the Square app. for processing show payments?

I'm curious as to how cost effective it may be for a small time dealer as a way to increase sales.

And how do you get connected at a show? Are you able to get a table near a phone jack or a USB port?

<< <i>From a customer stand point is it possible if the dealer has his computer set up online at the show is there a secure way for a customer to log into his PayPal account and send a payment to the dealer? So few shows around here I have no idea if it's been tried or not.
A customer using a dealer's lap top to effect a Paypal payment at a show would be at risk, unless the Wi-Fi connection was security enabled to prevent hacker intrusion.

I don't think so. All browser traffic to Paypal is encrypted via https. Besides, wifi encryption is easily broken so as to be almost useless.
Still, I wouldn't let someone else use my laptop, even to pay me.

It plugs into the headphone jack of a cell phone. Emails receipt to customer after they sign on your phone. records GPS location, etc.

Thanks for the refresher Todd. Part of my inquiry was related to the convenience of the portability of the Square card reader, which is 1/20 the size and weight of a conventional card reader made for cell phone docking. The square card reader can be docked to an iPad as well.

it very convenient for small dollar transactions...The set-up
and use are extremely easy...FYI; I have been using "square"
for sales of non-coin items at a local farmer's market...
In reading the "square user agreement" and also
researching customer reviews online, I found that
"Square" will hold funds for a very long time for
larger dollar transactions, or for transactions that
total more than XXX dollars per month...This caused
some real headaches/disasters in some of the reviews
I read...
I would read the user agreement carefully and look online
for customer reviews before deciding if square is right
for you...

It does not get anymore portable and convenient.
