Sometimes it's better/easier just get them all out there at once.

So here goes. All pics by Messydesk. And a huge thanks to Broadstruck for all his help in finding them. Also Commemdude and Justacommeman for all their help and patience.

Very nice photography work, notice how every shot has an even distribution of light.
Beautiful coins too, are these all slabbed?

The first three (at the very least) look like they spent time together in an album....nice coins!

Superb. The whole series is drasticly undervalued when mintage is considered IMHO

The first three in that group were easily my favorites. As mentioned, they could have spent time in an album, and even the same album. The toning on the obverse of the Texas livens up the otherwise boring and very flat fields that can have kind of a dead, "greasy" luster (Sesquis need this help, too), while the reverse being mostly untoned gives you a better look at the busy design. The uniformity of the toning on the Stone Mountain and Robinson are just as I like to see toning. Bright colors aren't necessary with good designs, and the focal points of the designs aren't obscured by distracting toning patterns. The darkly toned Bay Bridge grew on me a bit, as the toning actually helped give some depth and detail to the obverse.

Here is what I know about the first three. The Rob and Stone were bought at the same time, from the same seller. The Texas was purchased about 5 months prior from CU member OKCC. I think the Rob and Stone are from the same album, the Texas I'm not sure. I'd have to ask OKCC, although geographically it could be possible.

  • That is a beautiful collection!

Usually when I see a group of coins I pick a few I like which kind of diminishes the others. However I like each and every coin in this set! Great job.

I appreciate everyones comments, I really do. I try to gather feedback from any and all as I go along, as any feedback is something to be learned from.

Morgansforever, all are slabbed by NGC or PCGS. I didn't post grades, well, because I don't want that to be the focus. I'll answer any in PM's, but for now, no grades.

Kiyote, yeah, I'm keeping both. image

Goldbully, I've already got the box of twenty. image (i'm at around 27 or 28 counting dupes, which I have I think three)
Ultimately they will all end up over here,, as part of the group. (well some of the dupes won't). I'll be posting an update over there soon.

So did this set take a long time and require a lot of effort to assemble, or did it just drop into your lap?

I'm about half done and I've been working on it for approximately a year and a half. I've had a lot of help, I've asked a lot of questions and I've read my books. Where that fits into " a lot of effort " and "drop into your lap", I don't know.
