Anyone remember what the episode was called where Andy uses an buffalo nickel pulled from his desk drawer to teach Barney how easily he can be swindled. Andy says that due to a mistake at the Mint, the buffalo on this particular coin faces the wrong direction, making it a valuable investment?.

Too bad the U.S. Mint didn't continue this series while Hollywood lost a generation since the last good series. We still have the Gold Spouse. It was a funny series, just the same. In a better time, too. We weren't so sensitive. And people collected coins and could actually talk about it without breaking a rule.

Perhaps he is under 40 years old.

Mayberry reruns have been on non-stop since the show ended and then he was Ben Matlock for quit a while. Hes been around longer the William Shatner. >>
I am well under 40. I heard of Matlock as pop culture references go, but never watched the show itself because it was not a part of pop culture from the mid-90s when I started to watch US programming. My generation has good detective series, so no point in watching old reruns. He might have been in business longer than Shatner, but Star Treck is still around and evolved with the times.

That was his first big break as an actor. They pressed 500 copies of the original live recording - if you have one of those it's worth some bucks! (They re-recorded it for the commercial release.)
Some big shot Hollywood record producer got ahold of it, hopped a plane to NC, signed him up, and whisked him off to Hollywood. The rest is history.
Me at the Springfield coin show: 60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!

Thanks! I visited Fallingwater as a child and it changed my life..........that's when I knew what I wanted to become when I grew up an Architect. I never knew I could have Fallingwater in gold
Others may not be impressed but seeing this sure made my day! So at the age of ten I knew what I wanted to do in life.

He was a good'un. Gonna be missed by many. I loved his "football" bit he wrote a long time ago.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

Still don't see the numismatic reference.

The show started before I was born and ended when I was just 2 years old but, as a child, I watched reruns every day after school.
Ron Howard (who played his son) was one of the FEW child actors to turn out 'OK". Andy was always VERY proud of Ron.
RIP ANDY!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍
