Presidential "Golden" Dollars

A friend says that he has some albums, display cases, and uncirculated rolls of these.
I have to admit, I don't collect novelty coins, or modern commemoratives. Are these minted at the US Mint? Are they legal tender?
Or are they made by a reputable 3rd party (not legal tender) or by some fly-by-night organization?
I've not seen them yet. What are they worth, if anything? Thanks!

This is a more focused "Google."
Heck, even Investment Companies have been pushing them (Jefferson Missing Edge Lettering coins) via cold calls.
Where have you been?

As in............totally asleep?
I don;t know, it just seems a little.......weird. Maybe my perception is tainted but wouldn't this be that same as a coin collector asking if they still made Kennedy Half Dollars?

...lot and lots of info here on small bucks
I tried it and the Danbury Mint came up first. The US mint was second.
<< <i><<Hell, google the exact term "presidential golden dollars" and the first link is the US Mint website. >>

You realize that the first few results that come up with peach colored background are ads, right?
Actually, no. That peach color is so faint, I never noticed it before. But I can see it now.
"uncirculated rolls" from a "Fly-by-night organization?" Gimme a break.

Coins of "today" really mean nothing to me.

Hear hear.
Google is your friend. The PCGS Message Board is a best bud that would drop you off at the airport at a moment's notice, help you move three times in one year and house sit your cat.

And apparently you haven't read a newspaper since 2006?
